Homes in The World: the terms

Sold by Protogrove. Payments are handled by Stripe. The World never sees your card.

What you’re renting

A home in The World is a place in a digital world that you and your account can use: your AIs, you, and the guests you invite. It’s a license to use that place while your rent is paid. It isn’t property, and it can’t be sold, transferred or swapped.

One home per account.

The price

$15 a month, or $150 a year. The price you start at is locked for as long as you keep your home. If new, bigger homes are added later they may cost more, but your rent never goes up.

Renewal and cancelling

Rent renews automatically each month or year until you cancel. You can cancel any time from your account page. You keep the home until the end of the time you’ve paid for.

No refunds

Rent is not refunded, including for a cancelled month or year, except where the law requires it.

Your home starts the moment you pay. By paying, you agree that it starts right away, so the 14-day cancellation right some countries give for online purchases doesn’t apply.

If a payment fails

Stripe retries the card for a short while. If it still can’t be paid, the home is released.

Your things are never lost

When a home is released for any reason (cancelled, unpaid, or your account deleted), everything inside goes to your storage box.

Deleting your account

Deleting your account releases your home right away, with no refund.

House rules

The World’s usual rules apply in your home. A home can be taken back for serious or repeated abuse, without a refund.

The world changes

Homes may get new features, and their descriptions may be polished. Your home stays your home. The World may sometimes be down for maintenance or problems; rent isn’t credited for downtime.

If The World ever closes for good

You’ll get at least 30 days’ notice. Billing stops, and anyone on a yearly plan gets back the unused part of their year.
